COVID-19 NEWS

July 8th 2020

Studio Lessons restarting.

I’m currently in the process of making the studio Covid safe in order to trial  lessons at the end of this month (July).

These will be face to face lessons but will comply with social distancing rules.

Sadly it won’t be possible to bring all clients back at once - when the risk of covid lowers I will increase the capacity.

I have several clients participating in online lessons that will continue during this period (details are available below).

I will be updating this page regularly with more details.

COVID-19 UPDATE - ONLINE

Online lessons take place:  Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

I just wanted to update everyone on what’s happening in the regards to drumming lessons.  I’ve had a few clients asking if I’m still teaching online and how lessons are conducted.  So here are some details:

I’m running online video based lessons from the studio using Zoom (or FaceTime).  Currently the lessons are mainly during the daytime.

All work sheets are sent to students by email or text.  They can print or display these on a phone or tablet.  I have my drum set in view to demonstrate anything that students are struggling with (I also send specific video tutorials if needed).

I also set assignments for students to record and send to me.  That way I can check work and progress in general as well as completing tasks set.  Grade work is still continuing through the lessons and the relevant tests can all be conducted during the online lessons.

This is a good way of moving forward for students and will mean that when we resume, there shouldn’t be a lapse in work or enthusiasm.

COVID-19 UPDATE - ONLINE

I have decided to suspend all face to face lessons from 23rd March until further notice, in order to protect our community from any further spread of the virus.  Therefore, the studio will no longer be accessible to clients.

I will however be continuing online as mentioned in my previous post.  If you have a drum set, internet connection and wish to book an online lesson then please message me ASAP.

Unfortunately for some of my clients this means a break in their lessons for the foreseeable future until normality resumes.

Stay at home, protect the NHS and save lives.

COVID-19 UPDATE

The government have now closed the schools for the foreseeable future - however I will be still operating for people who are healthy without any symptoms.

I’m also in the process of setting up online lessons through Zoom for students with a drum set and internet connection.  I will keep you updated on this over the next week.

Stay safe, keep in touch.

Navigating COVID-19 at JPF drum tuition

At this moment in time the government guidelines implement that schools stay open so for now I will remain open for business as usual.

As we all now know this virus could be with us for sometime and I want to reassure clients attending the studio of the precautionary measures that have been taken to stop the spread and to halt cross contamination.

I have increased cleaning in the studio using anti bacterial sprays and wipes on shared equipment.  This includes wiping sticks and stool saddles down at the start of each lesson.

I’ve decided to remove magazines from the studio in order to stop cross contamination but have included the studio WiFi code on the notice board so people can pass the time on their own phone, tablet or laptop.

In the toilet there is now a pile of freshly folded towels on the window sill. After washing your hands  with soap and water - place the towel in the bucket, these towels will be collected and placed in a hot wash after lessons.

It’s very important for us all to take care of ourselves and each other during this time - if anyone starts to feel unwell in your household (a high temperature and/or a new persistent cough) you must follow the Government Guidelines for household-self isolation

Please let me know as soon as possible if you are not planning to attend lessons, and to the best of your endeavours please stick to my 24 hour notice policy.

Stay healthy. Keep in touch.

John
